SWIMMING TIME!!!!!!!

I have few Chairi Symptoms and I want to excersize, not just because excersize is important, but because I want to look good, I am 24 years old and I want to look fit. This is where i a met with my first barrier. I have 10 and 15 mm herniation, very little pain no head aches no syrinx, been recommended by Chiairi specialist to hold off on surgery until neccessary, I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I CAN LIFT, I will start with swimming, and push ups and sit ups and would like to do pull ups, but i am not sure if i can do that. I hope I will not bring on any pain or irritate things, this is my only concern.

  1. Hey Jason ~ I am a chiarian and was decompressed almost a year ago. I can understand where u r coming from b/c I have an active lifestyle and didn't want anyone telling me what I can and can't do when it comes to exersise ~ with that said ~ the more straining you do ~ lifting weights ~ pushups ~ will cause u more pain and perhaps increase your herniation. Swimming/cycling are best bets for you. I was told to give up running, but I still go for a jog now and again. Choosing to go ahead with the surgery was the best decision I have made. I was fearful that I might end up with irreversible neurological damage if I didn't and I wanted to get back to my active lifestyle ASAP. Surgery isn't for everyone but you will know when you need to go down that road. Hang in there ~ Lace
